Deck Staining Chicago

Welcome to the deck staining Chicago page of this site. In fact, we are going to be talking about the deck staining process/method we use.

First of all, I wanted to mention this. Wood decks should only be stained only after proper cleaning and prep work. This will include deck pressure washing.

After pressure washing you must wait for the decking to be completely dry. How do we know when it is? We actually have a sensor that we stick in the wood that digitally tells us the moisture content of the wood. Usually, this is a day or two depending on the temperatures and humidity.

Once the decking is completely dry you can begin to sand if needed. How much sanding depends on a couple of factors. On what type of wood your deck is made from? What process did we perform on your deck to get it clean? For instance, if you have a pine deck that had a stain peeling off and needed to be stripped. You may need sanding.

Finally, use a top-of-the-line stain. We hand brush each individual board with stain. Hand brushing is the only way to work the stain properly into the wood. If anyone else ever tells you anything different it is not true.

Yes, there are many companies out there that are trying to do this work for the cheapest price so they get more of it. In truth, many companies do not hand stain.

If you have any question please call 847-561-3724

Of course, if you have a composite deck you do not need stain just cleaning.

Types of stains

To list, there are full-color stains, semi-transparent stains, and semi-translucent stains To enumerate, there are full-color stains, semi-transparent stains, and semi-translucent stains. Full-color stains look more like paint. Full-color stains are formulated differently than paint. In truth, Full-color stains will not peel from wood.

Semi-transparent and semi-translucent stains actually show the wood grain. However, they do have enough pigment in them to block UV rays. UV rays are what grey the wood on your deck. In truth, all of these deck stains have waterproofing qualities. We do offer clear waterproofing. For our customers who like the grey look, but want waterproofing.
